Fr. Paul Strommer

Pastor

“What I am for you terrifies me; what I am with you consoles me. For you I am a pastor, but with you I am a Christian.” -St. Augustine

On July 15, 2020 our parishes of St. Joseph’s Chisholm & Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Buhl became my home. I am profoundly grateful to God for calling me into this family.

On June 3, 2016 I was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Duluth. I served as the parochial vicar of St. Francis & All Saints Catholic Churches in Brainerd, MN during my first 3 years of priestly ministry. My next assignment was at the Cathedral & St. Mary Star of the Sea in Duluth as a parochial vicar.

I am thrilled to be Catholic and I am so grateful to serve as a priest! Awe, the life of a priest! As a holy priest once said, “If I had 100 lives to live, I would live every one of them as a priest.” The great duty of the priest is to lead all souls entrusted to his care to heaven. What a task, and what a joy!

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Amen

Nickole Dahl

Bulletin & Social Media

My husband and I have been coming to St. Joseph’s for a while now, and it seems like the longer we stay, the more involved we become. We have five children, who were all baptized in St. Joseph’s. I’m fairly certain they played a major role in endearing us to the parish community. Once upon a time, I worked at a small town newspaper. Working on the bulletin is just enough to polish off those skills and still leave me with plenty of time for my family. Updating the Church Facebook page gives me something productive to do on social media for a change.

Kristian Conger

Secretary

My name is Kristian Conger. I’m originally from Gilbert, where I grew up and graduated from Eveleth-Gilbert High School and Mesabi Community College. I then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where I met my husband, James.

James and I traveled around the world for the Air Force for thirty years with our two children, Jacob & Hannah. Recently, James retired, and I was very fortunate to be able to move home near my parents, David & Helen MacInnis, who now live in Eveleth. We are looking forward to visiting with them and my brother, David.

In my 30 years of Air Force travel, the first thing I needed to find after transferring to a new area was the church! Whether that church was the on-base Catholic community or a Catholic church in a nearby town, I needed to find it first to start making the area our new home. That was true in Buhl for my family as well – finding the local parish was the first thing on the list!

I’m looking forward to meeting so many new people and leveraging my volunteer hours in many different churches for the benefit of St. Joseph’s and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.
